Job Title: Janitor

SSC is hiring immediately for full-time and part-time Janitor positions at Virginia Commonwealth University, located at 827 W Franklin Street, Richmond, VA 23284. Online applications are accepted only.

Schedule: Full and part-time shifts available, including Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, and Sunday - Friday, 10:00 pm - 6:00 am. Candidates must be able to work every other weekend. Additional details will be provided during the interview.

Requirements: Minimum of 2 years of janitorial experience.

Pay Rate: $15.65 per hour.

Job Summary

Responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order in buildings, including performing heavy cleaning duties such as floor cleaning, rug shampooing, wall and glass washing, and rubbish removal.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Collect and dispose of trash following approved procedures and infection control plans.
2. Dust and damp mop floors following approved procedures.
3. Move equipment and furniture for cleaning and replace furniture correctly.
4. Clean assigned areas using designated materials and equipment, sanitize all surfaces, and follow the eight-step cleaning procedure.
5. Wash walls, windows, furniture, baseboards, and other items to maintain a clean, safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
6. Identify areas requiring cleaning and proactively complete tasks.
7. Complete all tasks assigned by supervisors.
8. Perform duties in accordance with federal, state, and county guidelines.
9. Strip, scrub, buff, and refinish floors; shampoo carpets.
10. Contribute to team efforts and exhibit professionalism.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.
