Merlin Day Academy is a therapeutic day school program

Responsibilities

1. Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
2. Sanitize all surfaces daily.
3. Gather and empty trash throughout the day as needed.
4. Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
5. Clean, disinfect, and polish furniture and fixtures.
6. Clean, disinfect, and organize children’s toys.
7. Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors.
8. Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
9. Steam-clean or shampoo carpets as needed.
10. Monitor building security and safety by performing tasks such as locking doors after hours and checking electrical appliances to prevent hazards.
11. Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies.
12. Clean outside walkways and store frontage daily.
13. Notify supervisor of major repairs or maintenance needs.
14. Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas using shovels and spread de-icing chemicals.
15. Notify supervisor of supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance.
16. Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding for events.
17. Apply insecticides and fumigants to prevent infestations.
18. Follow all health and safety regulations.

Requirements

1. Must pass a federal background check.
2. Proven experience as a custodian/janitor.
3. Enjoy working in a busy, fast-paced environment with children present.
4. Ability to handle heavy equipment and machinery.
5. Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies.

Responsabilidades (en español)

3. Recolectar y vaciar la basura durante el día.
4. Arreglar, limpiar y reaprovisionar los baños.
5. Limpiar, desinfectar y pulir muebles y accesorios.
6. Limpiar, desinfectar y organizar los juguetes de niños.
7. Limpiar ventanas, particiones de vidrio y espejos.
8. Limpiar el polvo de los muebles, paredes, máquinas y el equipo.
9. Limpiar las alfombras con vapor o con champú cuando sea necesario.
10. Monitorizar la seguridad del edificio, cerrando puertas después de horas y verificando que los aparatos eléctricos estén desconectados.
11. Mover muebles, equipo y suministros pesados.
12. Limpiar las pasarelas de afuera y en frente del edificio.
13. Notificar a su supervisor cuando se necesitan reparaciones o mantenimiento.
14. Limpiar la nieve y usar sal para derretir el hielo en las pasarelas y caminos de entrada.
15. Notificar a su supervisor si necesita más suministros o equipo de limpieza.
16. Configurar, arreglar y quitar decoraciones, mesas, sillas, escaleras y andamios para eventos.
17. Usar insecticidas y fumigantes para prevenir infestaciones.
