Job summary

Duties and Responsibilities

Clean and maintain the building grounds, and the entire facility; provide minor repairs to buildings and equipment; do some painting and minor electrical and plumbing work.

The person holding this position is delegated the responsibility for carrying out the assigned duties and responsibilities in accordance with current existing federal and state regulations and established company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or GED preferred

Experience: One year preferred

Job knowledge: Use of cleaning equipment and supplies, including the maintenance of equipment; standard procedures for cleaning and maintenance, read, write, follow instructions, and communicate well with staff, residents and families.

Functions
  • Care for tools and equipment.
  • Use supplies and material economically.
  • Is able to use common house-cleaning equipment.
  • Aware of standard policies and procedures in cleaning and maintenance.
  • Sweep and mop floors.
  • Clean the dining room following each meal.
  • Vacuum all rugs.
  • Wash, strip, wax, and buff floors.
  • Clean fire doors and hand rails.
  • Gather and dispose of garbage.
  • Clean biohazard room on each shift.
  • Polish and wash furniture.
  • Maintain toilets and supplies.
  • Assist in moving material, supplies, equipment, etc.
  • Assist in general maintenance of grounds and buildings.
  • Change filters in washers, dryers, stoves, and heating and air-conditioning units.
  • Grease, oil, and service lawn mower, washers, dryers, floor equipment, buggies, carts, etc.
  • Oil hinges and adjust doors, beds, and chairs.
  • Replace light bulbs, fuses, and circuit breakers.
  • Abide by all resident rights.
Physical demands

Good mental and physical health, hand dexterity to perform duties, stands, walks, turns, stoops, kneels, crouches, reaches, pushes, pulls, and handles in cleaning, dusting and scrubbing. Lifts and carries cleaning equipment.

Special demands

Must have genuine interest in working with geriatrics. Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis, and perform tasks despite frequent interruptions. Ability to perform tasks with due consideration for residents in area. Initiative and judgement involved in maintaining assigned area in clean and orderly condition. Works under close supervision performing simple, standardized tasks.

Work area and environment

Throughout the buildings and grounds, including in, on top of, and under the physical plant.
