Job summary

Generations Center of Spencer seeks a Hospitality Aide to support nursing personnel and maintain a positive environment for residents. The role does not provide direct resident care and is housed in one of our long-term care facilities in Spencer, TN.

You will perform tasks such as making unoccupied beds, cleaning equipment, replenishing supplies, delivering mail, and assisting with family visits. The position offers day shifts and an entry point for the Nursing Assistant Program, with emphasis

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent related work experience.
  • Effective verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Highest level of professionalism with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of organization and work well within a team.
  • Customer service oriented with the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, excellent organizational skills.

  • Identify and participate in process improvement initiatives to improve the customer experience.
  • Make unoccupied beds.
  • Clean and sanitize resident equipment such as wheelchairs and bed pans.
  • Replenish supplies like linens and PPE; monitor resident care articles.
  • Deliver resident mail and assist with family visits as needed.
  • Answer call lights and perform non-care tasks; relay requests to nursing staff.

Summary:

Provide support and assistance to nursing personnel and assist in maintaining a positive physical and psychosocial environment for residents. Does not provide direct resident care.

Environment:

Work will be performed primarily indoors at one of our long-term healthcare facilities, throughout all areas, including in resident rooms, and on carpeted and/or tiled floors. Work will be performed there routinely around other co-workers, healthcare staff, residents, and guests. Due to the nature of facility’s business, worker may be exposed to occasional slippery floors, object on floors, chemicals, sharp objects, hazardous materials and waste (including human), blood¬ borne pathogens, and communicable diseases, as well as high-stress medical and/or life threatening situations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Meet physical and sensory requirements stated below, and be able to work in the described environment.
  • Identify and participate in process improvement initiatives that improve the customer experience, enhance work flow, and/or improve the work environment.
  • Make unoccupied beds.
  • Clean and sanitize resident equipment, such as wheelchairs, walkers, bed pans, urinals, etc.
  • Clean resident’s personal care and grooming items.
  • Maintain residents’ bedside stands, drawers, and closets in a clean, orderly and odor free manner.
  • Empty room trash as needed
  • Replenish supplies such as linens and PPE
  • Monitor and replenish resident care articles.
  • Deliver resident mail
  • Assist with family visits (as needed)
  • Answer call lights and provide non-care giving tasks; i.e. change TV, open windows, adjust articles within residents’ reach, relay requests for actual care assistance to nursing staff, transport residents to meals, activities, care conferences, assist with picking up trays post dining and following calculation of the meal intakes by certified nursing assistants.
  • Other special projects and duties, as assigned.
Job Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED required or equivalent related work experience.
  • Effective verbal and written English communication skills.

  • Ability to deal with new tasks without the benefit of written procedures.
  • Approachable, flexible and adaptable to change.
  • Function independently, and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with stakeholders and vendors.
Physical and Sensory Requirements:
  • Moderate physical activity:
    • Push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds to a minimum height of three (3) feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of fifty (50) feet.
    • Standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
    • Bending and/or stooping for more than one (1) hour at a time.

The Hospitality Aide position is an entry point for the Nursing Assistant Program at Generations Center of Spencer.
