Job summary

Chugach Government Solutions is seeking a custodial technician to support daily maintenance and cleaning at Naval Base Point Loma. You will perform a full range of custodial duties across facilities, keeping supervisors informed of any issues and ensuring safety and compliance with contract requirements.

The position is on-site in San Diego, CA, with hours that may include overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• 6 months janitorial experience required.
• Excellent oral and written communication.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Mature judgment and ability to work with little supervision.
• U.S. Citizen or legal residency.
• Valid state driver’s license with clean record.
• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Background check ability required.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize restrooms and fixtures, including sinks, toilets, and showers.
• Sweep, vacuum, mop, wax, strip and polish floors and equipment.
• Replenish restroom supplies and maintain cleanliness of facilities.
• Dust and polish furniture, woodwork, fixtures, and equipment.
• Wash interior and exterior windows and mirrors; ladders may be used.
• Empty and sanitize waste receptacles; move furniture as needed.
• Identify and report maintenance needs in assigned buildings.
• Perform specialized floor, wall, and ceiling restoration projects.

Job Overview

Under the direction of the Task Order Manager, the incumbent will provide support for the daily custodial maintenance and operation of all facilities at Naval Base Point Loma Custodial Services contract. The incumbent will perform a full range of custodial duties related to the care, maintenance, and cleaning of all assigned buildings and facilities. Keeps supervisor apprised of unique situations and problems encountered.

Responsibilities

• Incumbent will clean and sanitize restroom facilities and related fixtures including drinking fountains, refrigerated water coolers, custodial mop sinks, restroom sinks, urinals, showers, and toilets.
• Responsible to sweep, vacuum, mop, wax, strip and polish floors and equipment.
• Replenish supplies in restrooms, facilities, etc.
• Responsible for ensuring all dusting (both high and low) areas are maintained as necessary and polishing furniture, woodwork, fixtures, and equipment.
• Wash windows (both interior and exterior), mirrors, and walls. Washing windows may require the use of ladders.
• Empty, clean, and sanitize waste receptacles.
• Move and arrange furniture and equipment for cleaning and replacement when completed.
• Responsible for cleaning window blinds either Venetian or vertical as required.
• Identify and report building maintenance needs in assigned buildings and facilities.
• Perform specialized projects such as restoration programs on floors, walls, ceilings, furniture, and other items.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Timely, cost-effective performance of duties.
• Timely completion and accuracy of all work.
• Adherence to contract requirements and CCS policies.
• Working closely and harmoniously with fellow workers.
• Adherence to all safety and health rules and regulations.
• Responsible for the timely reporting of accidents, injuries, “near‑miss”, and hazardous situations.

Rate of Pay: $26.31/hr

Job Requirements

Mandatory:

• 6 months of Janitorial experience.
• General knowledge of hand and power tools.
• Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Must have excellent organizational skills.
• Mature judgment and ability to work with little or no supervision.
• Be a U.S. Citizen or legal residency alien.
• Valid state driver’s license with excellent driving record (must provide current driving record).
• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Must be able to pass background investigation.

Preferred:

• At least 2 years floor care experience.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed mostly indoors, with some outdoor required when directed. Outdoor work is subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather conditions.
• Work hours are subject to change, with overtime, nights, weekends and/or holiday work as needed.
• Subject to hazards that may cause personal bodily harm; diseases, cuts, bruises, burns, common colds, influenza, dust odors and elevated noise levels.
• Tasks may be performed on uneven, inclined, hard, and soft-carpeted floors, cement structures and surfaces, and elevated levels using ladders.
• While performing duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand and/or walk for long periods at a time, use hands and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, climb ladders, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear, taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to climb stairs and ladders as required.
• Must be able to load/unload materials, tools, and equipment.
• Involves walking, bending, stooping, twisting, and reaching.
