Job summary

The Washington County Jail is seeking dedicated Correctional Officers to uphold safety and order within the facility. You will enforce rules, supervise inmates, and support daily operations to protect staff and inmates alike.

Roles include search procedures, incident reporting, and collaboration with health services. Candidates should have a high school diploma and relevant experience or education, and must be able to work a five day rotation with varying shifts.

Qualifications

• Requires High School diploma or GED plus two years of related work experience in corrections, law enforcement, security, military or human services, or two years of post-secondary education in a related field, or equivalent combination.

Responsibilities

• Maintain peace, security and safety within the jail.
• Supervise inmates, search for contraband and weapons, and write reports.
• Record data, manage inmate movement and coordinate with programs and staff.
• Respond to emergencies and deescalate disturbances as needed.
• Operate jail technology and ensure proper security of inmates during transport.
