Job summary

Salt Lake County is seeking a Control Room Operator to monitor and control access within jail facilities. Responsibilities include overseeing prisoner movement, responding to alarms, and maintaining logs. Requires two years related experience, successful background check, drug test, and ability to obtain BCI certification. The role entails working in a secure environment and complying with safety policies.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of directly related experience (e.g., Law Enforcement, Facility Protection, Security, Dispatch, Corrections, Loss Prevention, Video Surveillance, Call Center).
• Must pass fingerprint-based background check and RAP Back program.
• Must pass mandatory drug test and may be subject to random alcohol and drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Control access to secure doors, booking and visiting areas, and high-traffic zones.
• Remotely monitor movement, identify emergencies, and coordinate with correctional/medical response.
• Observe prisoners and staff in housing, booking, visiting, and perimeter areas.
• Respond to alarms, perform lockdowns, and initiate emergency procedures.
• Dispatch information to supervisors/units and perform callouts for specialized units.
