Maricopa County Correctional Health Services is seeking a Jail Intake Associate Medical Director to provide clinical and administrative oversight for physicians and advanced practice providers delivering 24-hour medical services at the Jail Intake, Transfer, and Release facility.

You will ensure high-quality, evidence-based care for a diverse patient population within the jails, aligning with regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Three years post-residency experience evaluating and treating diverse patients with complex medical, substance use, and mental health disorders.
• Doctoral degree from an accredited medical school.
• Must have completed an approved U.S. Residency/Fellowship training in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine.
• Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine issued by the State of Arizona.
• Current, unrestricted board certification from the ABFM, ABIM, or ABEM.

Responsibilities

• Provides clinical oversight of Physicians and Advance Practice Providers delivering 24-hour medical services at the ITR facility.
• Acts as Supervising Physician for Physician Assistants on shift or CHS teams as needed.
• Provides on-call support for urgent clinical cases.
• Collaborates with senior leadership to improve initial health assessments and outcomes.
• Develops and updates SOPs/CPGs to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
• Participates in accreditation surveys and training for staff.

ITR is where all individuals are booked into custody and released from custody; therefore, the facility functions as the first step in screening and understanding the medical needs of patients within the jails.
