Job summary

The City of Santa Monica is seeking a Jail Services Attendant to provide custodial services for the Police Department jail facility. You will perform routine cleaning tasks, including floors, restrooms, and cells, while ensuring safety and security measures are followed.

No diploma is required, but strong reading/English communication and six months of janitorial experience in a law enforcement context are preferred. Background checks will be conducted.

Qualifications

• Read, write and communicate in English.
• Six months of recent, paid janitorial experience within a law enforcement agency or as a Custodian with the City of Santa Monica that includes use of power cleaning equipment.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English; safety rules and procedures must be followed.

Responsibilities

• Provides custodial services to the Police Department jail facility.
• Sweeps and mops floors.
• Washes, strips, buffs and waxes floors.
• Cleans and disinfects restrooms and cells, including washing mattresses and fixtures.
• Stocks restrooms with supplies and replenishes where needed.
• May operate City vehicles and drive small utility vehicles.
• Performs minor maintenance and repairs to facilities and equipment.
• Assists in feeding prisoners and performing laundry duties.
