Position Title: Jr Sous Chef

Reports to: Sous Chef

Responsibilities:

  • Perform the steps of SSA EXTRA Guest Service to ensure a memorable experience for every guest and client.
  • Ensure restaurant/location is adequately prepped and staffed (BOH) for daily operation.
  • Oversee kitchen duties ensuring quick service, safety, quality, and guest satisfaction standards are met and excelled.
  • Maintain safety logs including food temperatures, rotation, and waste.
  • Ensure proper uniform, hygiene, handwashing, and glove use with staff.
  • Support SSA safety training with knife handling skills, ensuring proper use of knives and slicers.
  • Create daily prep and item lists, delegating tasks as necessary.
  • Support smooth operation by filling in as needed.
  • Maintain a checklist of routine cleaning and ongoing projects or menu planning.
  • Assist the Sous Chef in assigning duties, coaching, and guest interactions.
  • Respond to guest and client feedback promptly, reporting to the operations manager to mitigate complaints.
  • Oversee personnel duties, including training and performance reviews.
  • Manage employee attendance, hour discrepancies, and break schedules.
  • Inspect equipment and perform maintenance as needed.
  • Ensure timely completion of tasks and communicate issues to the management.
  • Work with restaurant supervisors to ensure standards are met.
  • Supervise in accordance with all applicable laws.
  • Perform additional tasks as necessary.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Uphold company policies and procedures.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to multitask, pay attention to detail, and plan effectively.
  • Flexibility in a fast-paced environment.
  • Personable, professional, energetic, and proactive.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift boxes (10-35 lbs).
  • Availability to work varied hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
