Job summary

You will work under supervision with the Iyápi Director, coordinating with interns, contractors, and volunteers while tracking participation and producing reports. Strong organizational skills and community engagement are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, implement, and manage community-based Dakota/Lakota language programming and public language learning initiatives.
  • Oversee the operational administration of programs including scheduling, participant coordination, logistics, communications, materials preparation, and documentation.
  • Coordinate language learning initiatives including, but not limited to, master apprentice programming, listening pod initiatives, language weekends, workshops, Dakota/Lakota language institutes, trainings, and other community programs.
  • Recruit, organize, and communicate with program participants, contractors, consultants, volunteers, and other temporary program participants.
  • Coordinate planning and implementation of community-facing language events, meetings, workshops, and public engagement activities.
  • Develop and maintain program timelines, implementation plans, and reporting tools, and assist with participant tracking systems as needed.
  • Monitor program participation, collect relevant documentation, and coordinate internal reporting, grant reporting support, program evaluation activities, and other required program documentation as assigned.
  • Coordinate consultant and contractor activities related to program implementation.
  • Coordinate budget tracking, honorarium coordination, purchasing requests, travel coordination, and other operational program needs.
  • Develop and maintain organized records related to programming, participation, communications, and project implementation.
  • Provide coordination, guidance, and oversight to interns, volunteers, consultants, contractors, and other temporary program participants involved in Iyápi programming.
  • Develop, manage, and coordinate outreach and public communication related to assigned programming, including community announcements, participant communications, promotional materials, media initiatives, and other public-facing communications necessary for effective program implementation.
  • Coordinate operational logistics related to assigned programming including scheduling, facility coordination, materials preparation, food coordination, supply management, setup, and other implementation needs.
  • Collaborate with other Iyápi Program staff to ensure effective implementation of language revitalization programming.
  • Attend meetings, trainings, conferences, and community events as assigned.

SCOPE OF POSITION:

The Community Programs Manager is responsible for the coordination, implementation, and day-to-day administration of community-based Dakota/Lakota language programming under the Standing Rock Iyápi Program. This position supports the development, management, and delivery of community-facing language initiatives designed to increase access to Dakota/Lakota language learning opportunities across Standing Rock for community members of all ages, with multigenerational engagement encouraged whenever possible. The Community Programs Manager will oversee program logistics, participant recruitment, scheduling, reporting, event coordination, and operational support for language programming including, but not limited to, master apprentice programming, listening pod initiatives, language weekends, community trainings, Dakota/Lakota language institutes, workshops, and other public language revitalization efforts.

SUPERVISION:

The Community Programs Manager will work under the direct supervision of the Iyápi Director who will provide guidance, direction, and conduct performance evaluations.
