Job summary

Job description

SUMMARY: This staff member is to develop and lead the staff to assist in alleviating the detrimental effects of domestic violence and behavioral issues on victims. This staff member will be able to conduct themselves in a professional manner in working with victims, other Tribes, Tribal Programs, State and Federal agencies. This staff member will be able to assist with the administration of State and Federal contracts and other grants, including but limited to implemented programs, and community outreach and education. This person is the front-line representative responsible for community outreach activities related to the Domestic Violence Program. This position may work individually with clients who have addiction, suicidal ideation or domestic violence concerns if they hold a license to provide such services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and/or RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
  • Demonstrates the Omaha Tribe's core mission, vision, and values.
  • Manages assigned Groups with the appropriate training if needed.
  • Assisting with monthly and annual reports as needed.
  • Facilitate trainings for the community, agencies and other groups on topics such as domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, stalking, murder and missing women and children, bullying, dating violence, and healthy relationships.
  • Use data collection systems as required by funding sources.
  • Provide intervention and preventions services to victims of crime, batterers and the community.
  • Provides education to the community and other agencies through presentation, in-service trainings, program orientation, networking and team building through appropriate curriculum development. This will include planning and promoting activities that promote healing for the family.
  • Devise, implement and maintain a public awareness campaign against domestic violence within the scope of the program.
  • Maintain confidentiality of clients in accordance with mandatory reporting requirements.
  • Maintain ethical treatment of clients.
  • Become knowledgeable of program organization, philosophy, functions policies and procedures, mandated by State and Federal regulations.
  • Work closely with project staff to accomplish program goals community awareness/prevention activities
  • Presents educational workshops and program education sessions as needed.
  • Staff community/outreach events and exhibits as needed.
  • Identifies and enlists the cooperation of individuals, groups, social service agencies and other community organization in educational outreach activities.
  • Attend trainings/webinars/conference calls concerning programs as necessary.
  • Facilitate events and groups as required
  • Put together a group for update to Tribal codes.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) with 5 years of demonstrated experience in the area of case work and administration.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, and/or REGISTRATIONS:
  • All applicants will comply with 45 CFR 1301, Subpart D, Section 1301.31, C and D, which require all prospective employees to sign a declaration prior to employment regarding all arrests and convictions of child abuse or violent felonies and to comply with PL 101-630 and PL 101-637 regarding criminal records check.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and meet driver eligibility requirements.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Normal to light office work which includes the ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
  • Regularly required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate computer keyboard, phone, and various office equipment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and/or ABILITIES:
  • Must possess the ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently.
  • Must be able to continually and effectively employ professional verbal and written communications skills.

  • Demonstrate project management skills, including facility in managing and prioritizing projects with multiple and often competing deadlines, and ability to work under pressure.
