Job summary

Polaris Pharmacy Services seeks an IV Pharmacy Technician to support sterile compounding and prescription filling under supervision of a Registered Pharmacist.

Responsibilities include maintaining the sterile room, data entry, and assisting with long-term care facility orders while adhering to USP 797, HIPAA, and state regulations.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Pharmacy technician licenses/certifications required by state regulations.
  • Minimum of one (1) year working as an IV pharmacy technician preferred.
  • Experience with long-term care and sterile compounding is a plus.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and regulatory requirements is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Fill prescriptions and prepare sterile compounding per Polaris standards.
  • Maintain Sterile Compounding room and QA per USP 797 guidelines.
  • Enter data accurately into computer systems and verify orders.
  • Assist pharmacist with facility communications and calling care facilities.
  • Maintain equipment, ensure calibration, and keep work area clean.
  • Replenish and manage Emergency Drug Kits for long-term care facilities.

Required duties are pursuant to specific Board of Pharmacy defined technician tasks, which may include, accurately filling prescriptions, preparing Sterile Compounding medications, entering computer data, following standard procedures, and regulatory requirements.Duties/Responsibilities:Clean and maintain Sterile Compounding room and QA as per USP 797 guidelines for a state law as directed by supervisorWork under direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, fill prescriptions and prepare Sterile Compounding according to Polaris standards of quality, customer service, productivity guidelines, and State Board of Pharmacy regulationsKnowledge of Long Term and Post- Acute CareStage, Prep, and fill orders for residents at long-term care facilities and high-risk pregnant womenCompound Sterile Compounding orders in a Class 100 clean room as directed by Pharmacists, IV Supervisor, and/or Director of PharmacyResponsible for data entryAssist pharmacist with calling care facilitiesMaintain, clean and account for pumpsFile, answer phones, and stock areas in the IV department as appropriate and directed by supervisorWork with Lead IV Technician to maintain a clean/safe work environment, check equipment for calibration, safety, and cleanlinessReplenish and maintain Emergency Drug Kits (EDK) provided to Long Term and Post-Acute Care FacilitiesFollow all applicable government regulations, including HIPAACommunicate with Pharmacist, Supervisor, or Lead Technician about any concerns regarding USP 797 and OperationsComply with departmental policies regarding safety, attendance, and dress codeOvertime, holidays, and weekends may be required and/or expectedOther duties as assigned; Job duties may vary depending on business needsQUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
