Progress West Hospital, part of BJC HealthCare, serves the St. Charles County area with 24-hour emergency services and comprehensive surgical and inpatient care.

The Licensed Practical Nurse role on the 16-bed Med Surg/Ortho unit provides direct patient care, IV management, and discharge planning under the supervision of the RN. The position requires an IV certification, a high school diploma or GED, and a commitment to ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• IV management under supervision of RN.
• Implements treatments within LPN scope.
• Participates in patient teaching and discharge planning under RN.
• Engages in professional development and lifelong learning.
• Performs patient assessments and evaluates age/developmental needs.
• Updates and implements care plans considering patient age/development.

Responsibilities

• Implements treatments and procedures within the scope of practice for the Licensed Practical Nurse.
• Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, provides patient teaching and discharge planning. Participates in professional development and life long learning.
• Performs patient assessment and evaluation with regard to the patient‘s age and developmental needs.
• Assists in developing and updating the plan of care with regard to the patient‘s age and developmental needs.
• Implements plan of care with regard to the patient‘s age and developmental needs.
