Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Raleigh, NC welcomes an ITS/Traffic Engineering Intern to help design traffic plans, evaluate signaling and fiber routing, and prepare preliminary reports. You will conduct investigations, assist with feasibility studies, and contribute to cost estimates while learning under experienced professionals.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop ITS/Traffic plans and drawings.
• Organize ITS/Traffic investigations and analyses with defined scope.
• Prepare straightforward technical reports under supervision.
• Research feasible design approaches and best practices.
• Contribute to specifications, permits, and estimates; QA checks.
• Coordinate with other disciplines and perform field observations as needed.

### **Job Description**## OverviewAtkinsRéalis is seeking an ITS/Traffic Engineering Intern to join our Raleigh, NC office.## Your Role* Design and develop plans and drawings, which may include the development of preliminary layout and/or final drawings related to ITS and Traffic design. Specifically, our work includes traffic signal design, fiber optic communications cable routing and splicing, utility coordination, signing and striping, traffic safety studies, and more.* Organize and conduct ITS and Traffic engineering investigations, planning, and analysis which have a well-defined scope.* Outline and prepare relatively straightforward technical reports of sections of more complex reports, working under the periodic review of a more experienced professional.* Research feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions, regulatory agency specifications, industry best practices, state of the practices, and emerging technologies.* Contributes to the development of specifications and permit applications and writes miscellaneous reports. Prepares preliminary man-hour, cost and material quantity estimates.* Participates in quality control checks, maintaining quality standards in all work produced, checking computations, and/or reviewing reports, designs, and drawings developed by others.* Coordinate with other disciplines as required.
