Position Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers (KIE) is seeking a Civil Traffic Estimator to join our Lone Tree team. This role supports project pursuits and awarded projects by managing ITS/Electrical/Signage/Signals Design across various large projects. The candidate should be an expert in ITS/Electrical/Signage/Signals design, experienced in infrastructure coordination, and construction techniques. The civil traffic team plays a key role in project pursuit, engineering, and construction to deliver excellent service to clients.

Our work includes ITS, Lighting, Electrical, Guide Signs, Traffic Signals, Roadway Striping, and collaboration with Civil Engineering disciplines such as roadway, drainage, and structures.

Location

This position is based in our Lone Tree, CO offices.

Responsibilities

1. Perform quantity takeoffs from CAD, Microstation, Blue Beam, or PDF source files.
2. Prepare estimates for subcontracted and self-performed traffic work, including ITS/Electrical/Signage/Signals. Travel to project or pursuit sites and coordinate with other estimators to ensure scope alignment.
3. Input quantities into estimating software, apply unit prices from historical data or prepare theoretical estimates in their absence.
4. Research past projects for applicable cost data.
5. Develop high-level ROMs and detailed estimates by analyzing all operational aspects.
6. Create subcontractor bid packages, compile quantities, and clarify scope. Respond to bidder inquiries and coordinate with the supply network for quotes.
7. Prepare and present estimate review packets.
8. Assist in developing construction schedules, advising on activity logic, durations, and resource loading.
9. Apply correct account codes according to Kiewit standards.
10. Engage in continuous improvement through training and debrief sessions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience in ITS, Traffic, or Dry Utilities.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in project management/engineering within civil and electrical construction.
• Proficiency in manipulating .dwg, .dgn, .pdf files.
• Knowledge of Bentley Projectwise.
• Basic understanding of utility construction methods.
• Construction field management experience recommended.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with estimating software like InEight, HCSS, or Hard Dollar.
• Basic knowledge of heavy civil construction operations.
• High attention to detail and self-checking for accuracy.

Other requirements include reliable attendance, effective communication, safety adherence, ability to meet deadlines, and willingness to work at various locations, including overtime and weekends as needed.

Base compensation ranges from $94,767 to $118,760, subject to experience and location.
