Job summary

Banora Point High School is seeking an Itinerant Support Teacher — Vision to provide specialised support for students with vision disabilities across preschools to high schools in the Northern Rivers region. The role requires travel by personal transport and A current driver's licence is essential.

Responsibilities include conducting assessments, supporting teachers with curriculum adjustments, and delivering professional learning to staff on vision-related strategies and technologies, including

Qualifications

• Approval to teach Visual Impairment (Primary) and Visual Impairment (Secondary).
• High level communication, interpersonal and organisational skills with a proven capacity to work collaboratively and build positive relationships with students and staff.
• Knowledge of disability policies and inclusion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
• Experience teaching braille, assistive technology and related software to support curriculum access.

Responsibilities

• Travel to regional and rural schools to support students with visual impairments.
• Conduct student assessments and participate in review meetings.
• Provide professional learning for school staff on vision impairment supports.
• Support curriculum adjustments and development of personalised learning plans for vision-impaired students.
