Job summary

Cheney Public Schools seeks an itinerant Special Education Teacher for the 2026-27 school year in Cheney, WA. This 1.0 FTE leave replacement position serves in a Resource Room setting with a schedule of about 7 hours per day, Monday through Friday, with times varying by building.

You will develop and implement IEPs, collaborate with building principals and department staff, maintain progress records, and communicate with families to support student success across settings.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in verbal and written form.
• Experience working as part of a team to implement IEPs and related services.
• Proficiency with educational technology and data-tracking to monitor student progress.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement IEPs addressing student needs and state standards.
• Instruct eligible special education students in academic content areas per IEP requirements.
• Collaborate with families and general education teachers to coordinate services and goals.
• Maintain progress data and prepare progress reports as required by law and district policy.
• Communicate student progress and needs to families and stakeholders.
