Qualifications

• Associate degree or 48 semester hours or ACT WorkKeys passing score.
• Meet suitability criteria under Alabama Child Protection Act for employment/certification/licensure.
• Demonstrated success in relevant work experience.
• Ability to work in a highly demanding, stressful environment.
• Proficient oral and written communication with students, parents and others.
• Effective interpersonal and collaboration skills with a wide variety of people.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Physical ability to perform job responsibilities, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to use technology to communicate, manage data, and produce/submit reports.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates support for the school system and its goals and priorities.
• Presents lessons or portions of lessons to students as directed by the teacher.
• Helps students use books, computers, and classroom materials.
• Keeps routine records related to attendance, grades, test scores or behavior as assigned.
• Transfers students to buses and assists during transportation.
• Assists with toileting, movement, and basic health tasks as directed.
• Maintains discipline and supports positive student behavior.
• Participates in field trips and supports students with physical needs.
• Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters.
• Attends IEP meetings when requested and assists as needed.
