Job summary

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 48 semester hours as required by Alabama standards.
• Ability to meet suitability criteria under Alabama Child Protection Act.
• Demonstrated success in relevant work experience.
• Ability to work in a demanding environment.
• Proficiency in oral and written communication with students, parents, and others.
• Interpersonal skills with a wide variety of people and groups.
• Ability to follow instructions and accept feedback.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with student mobility.
• Ability to use technology to manage data and reports.

Responsibilities

• Support the Special Education teacher in instructional and learning activities.
• Assist with small group instruction and preparing instructional materials.
• Maintain routine records related to attendance, grades, and behavior as directed.
• Assist with student transportation on special education buses as assigned.
• Help with feeding, toileting, and hygiene needs when required.
• Support discipline and positive student behavior management.
• Assist with field trips and movement of students and equipment.
• Provide basic health, first aid, or nursing assistance as directed by a nurse.
• Collaborate with families and engage in IEP-related activities when requested.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct in all duties.
