Job summary

PEC Special Ed Local Plan Area (SELPA) in Oakland, CA seeks an itinerant Occupational Therapist to provide assessment, consultation, and direct therapy to eligible students. The role reports to Assigned Supervisor within the district’s Special Education program.

The position requires collaboration with IEP Teams, development of therapy plans, and coordination with families and school staff. California OT licensure and CPR certification are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program in OT.
• Current California OT license.
• CPR certification.
• Valid California Driver’s License.
• Experience in occupational therapy within an educational setting preferred.
• Pre-employment requirements including fingerprints and medical clearance.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement occupational therapy treatment for eligible students.
• Prepare evaluations and maintain student records.
• Communicate with students, families, staff and physicians.
• Collaborate with IEP/IFSP teams to extend therapy to classroom and home.
• Monitor equipment needs and adapt adaptive devices.
• Visit educational environments to assess therapy and equipment needs.
