Job summary

Atmos Energy Corporation, a natural gas distributor, seeks an item master data professional to manage item records in our ERP system. You will review setup and change requests, create and deactivate items, and enforce governance standards to maintain accurate data.

You will collaborate with Product Standards, Engineering, and Suppliers to capture all attributes, monitor data quality, support audits, and streamline item creation and maintenance across enterprise systems.

Primary Duties

1. Review and process item setup requests, change requests, and data corrections in a timely manner. Create, update, and deactivate item records in the ERP system in accordance with established procedures and governance standards.
2. Maintain critical item attributes including descriptions, classifications, units of measure, commodity codes, pricing information, sourcing details, inventory settings, and product hierarchies. Enforce data standards, naming conventions, and business rules.
3. Collaborate with Product Standards and Quality, Engineering, and Suppliers to ensure new item requests follow the appropriate review and approval process, to gather all pertinent item attributes, and to stay abreast of changes.
4. Monitor item master data quality and perform regular audits to identify inaccuracies, duplicates, or incomplete records to ensure consistency and accuracy of item data across ERP and related business systems.
5. Maintain documentation of data governance policies and procedures.
6. Serve as a subject matter expert for item master data processes and system functionality. Investigate and resolve data-related issues impacting business operations. Identify opportunities to streamline item creation and maintenance processes.
7. Support audits, compliance activities, and reporting requirements.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

1. Educational/Experience Level:
   • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Finance, Business Administration or a related field and three years related professional experience in item management, master data, product data administration, procurement operations, or a related function.
   • A general educational knowledge normally acquired through a high school diploma or a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and five years related progressively responsible experience in item management, master data, product data administration, procurement operations, or a related function.
2. Communication Skills: Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers in order to obtain and/or provide explanations and/or information. Requires excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to explain technical or complex concepts to individuals.
3. Numeric Skills: Requires the ability to apply research methods, and/or advanced statistical and/or accounting methods.
4. Computer Skills: Requires basic computer skills in order to utilize various software applications for developing documents, reports and graphics.
5. Physical Demands: Requires occasionally performing activities including, but not limited to, bending, stooping, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning and/or lifting.
6. Work Conditions: Works in an office environment.
