Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Unified Communications Engineer I to support its voice communication infrastructure. You will configure, deploy, test, maintain, monitor and troubleshoot UC components such as CUCM, Cisco IP phones, Jabber, CUC, IM&P and UCCX across multiple facilities.

The role requires 3 years of UC/PBX experience, strong analytical skills, excellent communication, and willingness to travel within New Jersey. Bachelor’s or equivalent IT/CS/MIS degree or cert is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in IT, CS, MIS or related field, or an applicable technical certificate.
• Minimum of 3 years of progressive Unified Communications/PBX administration experience.
• Hands-on with Cisco IP Phones, CUCM, Jabber, CUC, IM&P, UCCX, SIP MGCP/SIP, Cisco IOS Gateways, SIP Trunking, and CUCM integration.
• Detail oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Proficient with Google Suite and related tools.

Responsibilities

• Configure, deploy, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot voice communication infrastructure to provide secure, highly-available services.
• Perform QA and testing of transmission mediums and infrastructure components.
• Handle basic issues under direct supervision and escalate complex ones.
• Travel to various Hackensack Meridian Health facilities across New Jersey as needed.

The Digital Technology Services (DTS) Unified Communications (UC) Engineer I is responsible for analytical tasks and activities associated with the organization's voice communication infrastructure as part of the Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) UC Team. The scope of responsibility for this position includes, but is not limited to the configuration, deployment, testing, maintenance, monitoring and troubleshooting of telecommunications network components to provide secure, highly-available services for local and remote locations. Duties also entail quality assurance and testing of transmission mediums and infrastructure components. Performs work primarily under direct supervision. Handles basic issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.

This position can require you to travel to different Hackensack Meridian Health facilities throughout the state of New Jersey.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other related area of study; An applicable technical certificate; Or equivalent related work experience may be accepted.
• Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in Unified Communications/PBX user administration and data communications installation.
• Hands-on experience and proficient with the following technologies and systems:

  • Cisco Communications Manager (CUCM)
  • Cisco Jabber
  • Cisco Unity Connection (CUC)
  • Cisco Instant Message & Presence Server (IM&P)Cisco Contact Center Express (UCCX) (CUCM integration and base configuration )

• Detail oriented, strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Google Suite platforms.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

• One or more years of prior experience in IT related discipline.
• Healthcare experience.

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:

• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Collaboration.
• Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) 4 Foundation certification.
