Nexstar Media Group, Inc. is seeking an IT Technician to provide frontline and intermediate technical support across broadcast, production, and business technology systems.

The role bridges traditional IT support with broadcast engineering, ensuring reliable operation of computers, software, networks, and media workflows. The candidate will troubleshoot user issues, support critical production systems, and collaborate with News, Production and Sales teams.

Qualifications

  • Technical degree in Information Systems, Digital Electronics, Broadcasting or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience supporting Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Working knowledge of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and Wi‑Fi.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical users.
  • Fluency in English Strong troubleshooting and customer service skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for broadcast and corporate technology systems via ticketing, phone, email, or in-person. Troubleshoot workstation, software, printer, mobile, and peripheral issues; configure and maintain desktops, laptops, monitors, and user hardware.
  • Perform basic network troubleshooting for wired and wireless systems; support IP-based broadcast and production technologies; coordinate with engineering to resolve infrastructure issues.
  • Assist with software deployment, updates, patch management, equipment installation, testing, and system upgrades; manage user accounts and permissions; document issues and resolutions; monitor system health and escalate to Broadcast Engineers when needed; participate in after-hours support and on-call rotations; support Microsoft 365 services including Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint.

Job description

The IT Technician provides frontline and intermediate technical support for broadcast, production, and business technology systems. This role serves as a bridge between traditional IT support and broadcast engineering, ensuring reliable operation of computers, software, networks, media workflows, and broadcast-related technologies. The specialist troubleshoots user issues, supports critical production systems, and works closely with News, Production and Sales departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Support Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for broadcast and corporate technology systems. Respond to and resolve support requests through ticketing systems, phone, email, and in-person assistance. Troubleshoot workstation, software, printer, mobile device, and peripheral issues. Configure, deploy, and maintain desktops, laptops, monitors, and user hardware.
  • Network & Infrastructure Support Perform basic network troubleshooting for wired and wireless systems. Support IP-based broadcast and production technologies. Identify connectivity and performance issues affecting broadcast operations. Coordinate with engineering team to resolve infrastructure issues.
  • Operational Support Assist with software deployment, updates, and patch management. Assist with equipment installation, testing, and system upgrades. Create and manage user accounts, permissions, and group memberships. Maintain documentation of issues, resolutions, and standard operating procedures. Maintain asset inventory and technology documentation. Monitor system health and upscale issues to Broadcast Engineers when necessary. Participate in after-hours support and on-call rotations as required. Support Microsoft 365 services including Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint.
Required Qualifications

Familiarity with broadcast systems such as: Newsroom Computer Systems (NRCS) Media Asset Management (MAM) Video servers and playout systems Non-linear editing systems IP video and audio transport technologies

Working Conditions

Primarily office and broadcast facility environment. May require lifting equipment up to 50 pounds. Occasional evening, weekend, holiday, and on-call support. Support of business-critical and live broadcast operations where rapid response is required.
