Job summary

Beacon Credit Union is seeking an IT Hardware Technician to maintain office IT hardware and cabling, ensuring high system availability and professional appearance. The role covers on-site support across multiple Indiana locations with regular travel to Beacon offices to perform repairs, installs, and maintenance.

Hours align with a standard 8–5 schedule, plus periodic Saturday rotation with telecommuting options.

Qualifications

  • One to three years of technical experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of installing and configuring PCs, thin clients, and peripheral hardware and software.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory Services, DHCP, DNS and networking.
  • Experience with desktop operating systems (Windows and Linux) and standard software applications.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains hardware and cabling at BCU office locations; troubleshoots IT hardware issues and performs repairs.
  • Serves as initial contact for user technical issues and coordinates with Infrastructure Services Team; informs Application Services Manager of status.
  • Configures and installs computers, thin clients, monitors, network gear, printers and copiers; upgrades OS and software using standard packages.
  • Assists hardware troubleshooting across offices including phones/video systems and cabling deployments.
  • Completes training to advance technical skills of the BTech team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Education

High school diploma or HSE; CompTIA A+ and Net+ recommended

Job description

Note: We are filling one opening that will be based on-site in Seymour or Salem, IN. Travel to other assigned Beacon locations will be regularly required as on-site repairs, installs and other position demands dictate.

Role

To support/maintain office IT hardware in a manner that provides excellent system availability, productivity and service to all employees of BCU so they may provide quality member service while fulfilling the mission of Beacon Credit Union. To maintain visual appearance of office IT hardware and cabling in a manner that exemplifies excellence.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintains hardware and cabling at BCU office locations, with the goal being to make sure things are running properly and look professional. Troubleshoots problems with IT hardware at BCU office locations. Makes repairs and corrections when required.
  • Serves as initial contact for assisting users to resolve technical issues. Collaborates with the Infrastructure Services Team and others in the credit union to resolve issues, as needed. Keeps the Application Services Manager informed of current status of issues.
  • Configures and installs computers, thin clients, monitors, network infrastructure, copiers and peripherals such as printers, scanners and related hardware. Installs, configures and upgrades operating systems and software using standard business and administrative packages.
  • Assists the Infrastructure Services Team and Engineering Team with hardware troubleshooting at office locations, including POTS lines, cable testing, phone/video system deployments, etc.
  • Completes training to advance technical skills of the BTech team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Experience

One to three years of technical experience. In-depth knowledge of installing and configuring PCs, Thin Clients and peripheral hardware and software recommended. In-depth knowledge of general IT related troubleshooting recommended. Working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory Services, including Group Policy, Users and Computers and DNS recommended. Working knowledge of Microsoft DHCP recommended. Working knowledge of networking recommended. In-depth knowledge of desktop operating systems, including current versions of Microsoft Windows and Linux recommended, and industry standard software applications.

Education

High school diploma or HSE. CompTIA A+ and Net+ certifications recommended.

The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions: Work is performed indoors in an office environment with potential for exposure to safety and health hazards. Employee may be exposed to dust and dirt while running cables at new or renovated branches. At times, the employee may be working in environments that are under construction. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Employee will regularly travel to other; similar sites. Employee may occasionally work extended hours, including overnight, to ensure proper system functionality.

Standard position hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. However, this individual will also work the periodic Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to noon (ability to telecommute) in a rotation with other IT staff members (currently 1-2 Saturdays per month). When working a Saturday morning, the employee will receive a half-day afternoon off during the same calendar week. Occasional after hour or weekend work may be required due to hardware needs and/or remodeling assistance (moving equipment).

Reliable transportation and flexibility are required as this employee will work a large geographic area that includes regular travel to credit union offices in Crawfordsville, Mitchell, Orleans, Rushville, Richmond, Salem, Seymour, and Washington, IN.
