The State Treasurer is a Constitutional Officer responsible for the receipt, recordation, protection, and disbursement of State money and financial assets. The IT Division in intricately involved in many processes related to these duties and maintains the technical infrastructure for the agency to be able to carry out their responsibilities as well. This position acts as an IT Network & Infrastructure Support Administrator for the State Treasurers Office (STO). This position is a true IT generalist. The Agencys small staff size and unique functions means this position requires competence and interest in a broad spectrum of IT functions. Tasks required of this position cover a wide variety of systems and users, and duties from low level to high level, including:

  • Security of STO IT systems which are involved in processing billions of dollars that move through the Treasurers Office including but not limited to: Windows and linux servers, web servers, desktops, laptops, mobile devices, firewalls, network devices, and printers.
  • Security also includes Azure based resources in support of normal operations and Development work. As these systems become required for the daily STO operational functions, this will encompass a variety of related platforms such as App Service Environments, LCS, Dynamics 365 platforms, and the wide assortment of Azure based resources required to maintain the security and operation of these environments.
  • Responsible for maintaining a reliable and efficient infrastructure of STO IT systems.
  • Installs and troubleshoots software, resolves users application questions.
  • Administers a broad range of IT systems from desktop printers to laptops and PCs, to servers and firewall protection.
  • Covers a broad range of duties, from fixing jammed printers and resetting passwords, to building servers.
  • Provides Tier II-III Help Desk support for all staff.

This position requires expert knowledge to ensure the security, availability, reliability, and efficiency of IT systems, including: Windows servers in a hybrid on-prem/Azure Active Directory domain, Windows 11 and higher desktops and laptops, iOS mobile devices, Cisco FTD firewalls, and network devices and printers. Supported environment includes Active Directory and Entra, DHCP, DNS, Microsoft Exchange 365, Microsoft Defender Endpoint Protection, and a wide variety of end-user level software, including the Microsoft desktop operating systems, Office365 Suite, and Azure Product Suites. The ideal candidate will show a demonstrated ability to research and quickly learn new technologies, as well as a demonstrated ability to communicate and establish/maintain effective working relationships with management, IT co-workers, network users, and external contacts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (required):

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Four years of administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

  1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.
  2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
  3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
  4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher-ranking commissioned officer on a year-for- year basis for the required experience.
SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS (also required)
  • One of the required years of experience must include IT network security-related functions (e.g., managing firewalls or VPNs, securing and patching public facing servers, etc.)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (not required):
  • Relevant IT certifications such as those from Microsoft, Cisco, Juniper, etc.
  • Experience performing the role of a systems administrator in an Azure environment.
  • Experience supporting Dynamics 365 and Power Platform as a development environment
  • Experience supporting end users of Windows operating systems and including Microsoft Office software.
  • Experience leading a migration of system, hardware, or network equipment over to a new platform.
  • Experience exercising appropriate judgment and managing multiple projects and priorities in a demanding environment.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Candidates must be able to lift 50 lbs. and work in tight spaces such as under desks. Candidates of this classification may be subject to be on call 24 hours a day and, therefore, may be required to provide the employing agency with a telephone number where the employee can be reached, and/or carry an Agency-issued phone. Candidates will be subject to a background investigation including criminal, credit and driving history.
