Job summary

SSR Mining Inc. is seeking an IT Systems & Network Administrator to safeguard the reliability, security, and availability of site infrastructure. You will support hardware, software, connectivity, cloud, and virtualization environments across Windows, Linux, and cloud platforms.

The role requires strong TCP/IP, VLAN, firewall, and monitoring expertise, with responsibility for design, deployment, and ongoing maintenance in a fast-paced mining setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in IT/CS or related field.
• 5+ years of networking/IT infrastructure experience.
• CCNA or higher certs preferred; strong practical equivalents considered.
• Proficiency with Cisco/Palo Alto devices and cloud platforms.
• Ability to design, implement, and secure hybrid networks.

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy network layouts including routers, switches, VLANs, and cabling.
• Configure security controls such as firewalls and VPNs to prevent unauthorized access.
• Monitor bandwidth and performance, optimizing for reliability and uptime.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues, including after-hours.
• Manage hybrid cloud integration with AWS and Azure.
• Apply patches and backups; maintain accurate network documentation.
• Collaborate with centralized team and provide training on network status.

Job Description

General Objectives

Reporting to the IT Supervisor, the IT Systems & Network Administrator supports the reliability, security, and availability of site network and infrastructure systems and provides technical support across hardware, software, connectivity, cloud, and virtualization environments.

Key Areas Of Responsibilities & Duties

1. Network Design & Deployment: Plan and set up physical and wireless layouts, including routers, switches, servers, VLANs, and cabling.
2. Security Configuration: Implement firewalls, virtual private networks, and access control policies to block unauthorized access.
3. Monitoring & Optimization: Track bandwidth uses and traffic patterns using monitoring tools to prevent bottlenecks and downtime.
4. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and fix hardware, software, and connectivity failures during outages, including after-hours and weekends.
5. Cloud & Hybrid Integration: Manage connections between local hardware and cloud platforms, including AWS and Azure.
6. Maintenance & Updates: Apply firmware updates, patches, and routine system backups.
7. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of network configurations, upgrades, and operational procedures.

Required Skills

• Strong grasp of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, subnetting, and routing protocols.
• Proficiency with enterprise hardware (Cisco, Palo Alto routers/switches/firewalls).
• Familiarity with server operating systems (Windows, Windows Server, Linux) and cloud/virtualization tools (VMware, AWS, Azure).
• Hardware configuration (routers, switches, firewalls, ESX hosts).
• Automation and scripting using tools like Python or Ansible.
• Cloud networking and multi-environment hybrid management.
• Problem-solving under pressure, multitasking, attention to detail, and clear communication to explain technical concepts to non-IT staff.
• Able to work independently and perform the core responsibilities with minimal to no supervision.
• Clear communication to report network status and train team members.
• Detail-oriented planning when drafting diagrams and network architecture.
• Work closely with the centralized network team and helpdesk.

Required Experience

• 5+ years of relevant networking experience..
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred. An equivalent combination of relevant education, certifications, and experience may be considered.
• CCNA preferred. In lieu of certification, 5+ years of relevant networking experience will be considered.
• CompTIA Network+ preferred, but not required.
• CCNP Enterprise preferred, but not required.
• CompTIA Security+ preferred, but not required.
• Capable of lifting/maneuvering 100+ lbs.
• Valid Drivers License
