Job summary

Williamson County in Georgetown, TX seeks an IT Administrator to manage, configure, and maintain countywide systems and applications. You will ensure reliable operation and provide advanced support to end users, with training delivered as needed.

This role reports to an IT Manager or Director and may participate in after-hours on-call rotation for Public Safety systems. A technical diploma or related experience is required.

Qualifications

  • Vocational/technical diploma or certificate or three years of job-related experience.
  • Four years of job-related experience acceptable in lieu of a diploma.

Responsibilities

  • Configures, administers, and maintains designated system or application to support end users’ needs.
  • Manages configurations, processes, and systems of designated technology infrastructure.
  • Assigns rights and roles for software applications.
  • Tracks system bugs, reporting issues, and resolutions.
  • Provides customized supporting tools for end users (reports, forms, workflows, reports).
  • Performs regular testing and auditing of designated systems, software, and procedures.
  • Provides advanced technical consulting and support services as needed.
  • Designs and delivers training programs.
  • Attends all meetings and trainings, as required.
  • Performs special duties as assigned.
  • Manages applications used by first responders in Williamson County and participating agencies.
  • Manages hardware and software systems related to Law Enforcement, EMS, and Emergency Management such as CAD.
  • Manages projects related to public safety technologies.
  • Participates in a rotating after hours on-call schedule.

Job description

Reporting directly to an assigned IT Manager or Director, responsible for managing, configuring, and maintaining reliable operation of countywide and/or critical technology systems or applications. Level II of III in System Administrators.

* Funding for this position will be effective October 1, 2026

  • Configures, administers, and maintains designated system or application to support end users’ needs
  • Manages configurations, processes, and systems of designated technology infrastructure
  • Assigns rights and roles for software applications
  • Tracks system bugs, reporting issues, and resolutions
  • Provides customized supporting tools for end users (i.e. reports, forms, workflows, reports, etc.)
  • Performs regular testing and auditing of designated systems, software, and procedures
  • Provides advanced technical consulting and support services as needed
  • Designs and delivers training programs
  • Attends all meetings and trainings, as required

Specialized Assignment (in addition to the duties above):
Public Safety
  • Manages applications used by first responders in Williamson County and participating agencies
  • Manages hardware and software systems related to Law Enforcement, Emergency Medical Services, and Emergency Management such as Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD)
  • Manages projects related to public safety technologies
  • Participates in a rotating after hours on-call schedule

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Position involves prolonged sitting at a workstation, visual examination of documents, reaching, walking, twisting, bending, standing and occasional lifting/carrying
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
  • Work is primarily indoors in an air-conditioned environment
  • Regular travel between work sites as required
IRREGULAR HOURS
  • Work outside of the normal office hours (Monday – Friday) may be required
  • May be deemed essential personnel in the event of an emergency
  • Regular attendance is required

  • Technology certification in area of responsibility
