Job summary

Tacoma Community College is seeking an IT Resources Technician to perform routine computer maintenance and repair within the campus IT environment. You will receive, unload, and secure desktops, laptops, and monitors, process retired assets, and maintain inventory records.

You’ll also lead student workers on small-to-moderate tasks and assist with network connections and device deployments. The role emphasizes hands-on hardware/software support and adherence to college policies.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent is required or expected.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
• Good communication and the ability to maintain accurate records and keep assets secure.
• Experience installing and removing hardware and software.
• Experience with diagnosing and repairing minor hardware and software issues.

Responsibilities

Position Summary

This position is responsible for performing routine computer maintenance and repair.

Essential Functions

• Receive, unload, and secure IT resources such as desktops, laptops and monitors.


• Process retired IT assets such as desktops, laptops and monitors. Coordinate with receiving department for proper procedures and removal.


• Maintain detailed and accurate inventory of incoming and outgoing equipment.


• Lead and provide instruction to student workers on small to moderate sized tasks.


• Perform computer maintenance and repair, including but not limited to hardware and software installation, de-installation and troubleshooting. Setup, install, configure, test, move and decommission computers and peripherals according to accepted policies and procedures.


• Connect devices to the college networks, including testing network connectivity.


• Perform related duties as assigned

Conditions of Employment

• The finalist for this position will be subject to a criminal background check before the start of employment. Information from the background check will not necessarily prevent employment, but will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by HR staff.

• Ability to lift/move computer equipment weighing up to 30 lbs., using proper lifting techniques.

Terms of Employment

These are non-permanent hourly positions bound by the WAC 357-04-045 provisions above, scheduled to work up to 17 hours a week. Flexibility in scheduling is required to meet business and program needs.

• The salary range is $21.00 - 21.00 hourly.
