About the Role
Are you a hands-on IT professional who enjoys variety in your work and thrives in a dynamic, multi-site environment? Exigent Mechanical Services is looking for an experienced IT Support Engineer who can confidently provide technical support across multiple companies, manage day-to-day IT issues, and contribute to large-scale systems projects.
This is not your typical desk-bound IT role—your work will span a range of responsibilities from remote troubleshooting to on-site networking support. You’ll collaborate with internal stakeholders, lead equipment upgrades, support server and cloud platforms, and ensure a seamless IT experience for users across our 7 operating companies.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of IT support and systems administration experience, strong skills in Microsoft 365, Azure AD (Entra ID), Intune, and networking (Cisco, Ubiquiti, Fortinet). They’re a clear communicator, highly organized, and thrive in a multi-site, fast-paced environment. Comfortable with travel, a service-first mindset, and familiarity with CMS and domain management are strong pluses.
Key Responsibilities:
Remote IT Support & Troubleshooting
· Resolve user issues related to hardware, software, networking, and cloud platforms
· Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support across all business units
On-Site Support & Travel
· Visit operating company offices across MD/DC/VA for hands-on assistance
· Deploy, maintain, or replace hardware (laptops, servers, phones)
Network & Infrastructure Support
· Configure and troubleshoot routers, firewalls, switches (Cisco, Ubiquiti, Fortinet)
· Maintain LAN/WAN environments
· Provide Tier 2/3 escalation support for networking issues
Cloud & Identity Management
· Manage Microsoft 365 and Azure AD (Entra ID) accounts
· Enforce policies using MS Intune or Endpoint Manager
· Oversee onboarding/offboarding, email access, and permissions
IT Projects & Documentation
· Participate in and lead infrastructure upgrade projects
· Document IT processes, systems, and configuration changes
What We're Looking For:
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP. Familiarity with CMS platforms (WordPress), web hosting, and domain management.
Soft Skills: Customer-focused, proactive, excellent problem-solver, works well independently and in teams, and comfortable with frequent travel.
Education & Certifications: Bachelor's degree in CS or IT preferred; relevant IT certifications (CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco) preferred.
