Job summary

Harvard Medical School is seeking an IT Support Associate II to provide advanced technical support to HMS researchers and affiliates in the Longwood, MA area, addressing complex issues beyond standard documentation. You will troubleshoot hardware and software, coordinate with IT engineering groups, and maintain documentation while ensuring security and reliable access for research activities.

Qualifications

• 4 or more years of experience with computers, wiring, and providing customer service in a technological environment.
• College degree strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of hardware, software, programming languages, and operating systems. May be tested on appropriate computer skills as required.
• Experience providing IT support in research, medical, healthcare environment preferred.
• Experience supporting faculty, researchers, research administrators and operations staff in a complex customer service setting preferred.
• Familiarity with the ITIL service management framework preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides advanced technical support in the use of computer hardware, software, and specialized mainframe technology.
• Knowledge of HMS IT policies and procedures for computers in the laboratory setting. Configures and maintains laboratory computer equipment and documentation.
• Acts as a customer liaison and research technology subject matter expert with HMS information security during security exception requests.
• Researches and recommends system equipment upgrades.
• Serves as an all-around technical resource to HMS customers.
• Installs, repairs and removes wire and cable lines; tests and debugs programs.
• Develops and tests complex user documentation.
