The University of North Georgia (UNG) is accepting applications for an IT Student Technician position on the Gainesville campus. The IT Student Technician serves as a front-line support resource for students, faculty, and staff, assisting with a variety of basic technology-related issues. This role requires a high level of professionalism, responsibility, and confidentiality, and involves handling sensitive information and representing the IT department with integrity.
Responsibilities
- Frontline Support: Assist students, faculty, and staff with basic technical issues.
- Personal device support: including check-in to perform troubleshooting and resolution.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software: Run computer scans, cleanup tools, and software updates; install software and recover license keys.
- Hardware installation: RAM and HDD upgrades.
- Inventory: Maintain inventory of IT equipment.
- Maintain technology resources: Support labs, printers, including toner and paper supplies.
- Other duties as assigned: Support additional technology-related tasks or special projects as directed.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Basic understanding of computer hardware and operating systems (Windows, macOS).
- Common software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, web browsers).
- Mobile device platforms (iOS, Android).
- Understanding of customer service principles.
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Time management and ability to adapt and learn quickly; teamwork.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Required Qualifications
- Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in the minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker.
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferably in the Computer Science or Computer Information Systems program.
