Job summary

Excel Academy Charter Schools in Massachusetts and Rhode Island seeks a Director of Information Technology to provide strategic leadership of technology services across the network. You will define the path forward, develop long-term strategy, and ensure reliable, compliant, cost-effective technology aligned with instructional and operational priorities.

The role requires on-site work at least 2 days a week, travel between campuses, and up to 5 days on-site during peak periods.

Qualifications

• 5-7+ years in technology, operations, or systems leadership.
• Experience owning or improving systems that support multiple teams, schools, or sites.
• Ability to lead vendors or external partners and ensure high-quality service delivery.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Familiarity with data privacy and security best practices in an educational setting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end IT operations across the network.
• Own infrastructure strategy including devices, networks, and core systems.
• Monitor system performance and optimize user experience.
• Serve as escalation point for critical incidents and ensure readiness for high-stakes moments.
• Manage relationships with technology vendors and MSPs.
• Lead procurement and RFP processes to secure high-quality solutions.
• Manage the technology budget and align investments to priorities and TCO.
• Oversee funding sources (e.g., E-Rate) and ensure compliance.
