Job description

This position is part of the Air Force Elements, U.S. Transportation Command, Transportation Command. You may qualify at the NH 2, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-1 (GS-04) grade level in the Federal service as listed below:

  • Assist with oversight of engineering design, test, and cybersecurity evaluations of IT systems and system modification.
  • Assisting with research for new and emerging IT products and technologies for compliance with approved IT systems policies, standards, and technical architectures, OR

B. 4 year course of study leading to a Bachelor's degree, OR

C. You have some specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and you have more than one year but less than two years of education as described in B. You have computed the percentage of the requirements that you meet, and the total is at least 100%. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.)

For the NH-3 One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-2 (GS-11) grade level in the Federal service as listed below:

  • Analyzing requirements for IT systems and identifying and performing hardware and software trade-offs and cost and performance trade-offs aligned with an organizations transformation efforts.
  • Analyzing IT systems processes, identifying shortfalls, assessing alternative solutions, and providing recommendations to improve the processes.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

In addition to meeting qualifications, your application package must reflect the applicable experience to meet the Individual Occupational Requirements for the 2210, series as listed below:

For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.

  3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
