Job summary

The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a full-time IT Specialist (Network), GG-2210-12, located at the Air and Ground COMSEC Products Branch at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, TX.

TLMS may be applied based on eligible STEM degree: $117,000 – 133,000

This position is a Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) position aligned under authorities of Section 1601, Chapter 83 of Title 10, United States Code and DoD Instruction 1400.25-V2007.

Depending on the type of position you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.

In this position, you will serve as an Information Technology Specialist to provide technical and procedural customer assistance in the implementation and sustainment of the Air Force Electronic Key Management System (EKMS) and Key Management Infrastructure (KMI) for the DoD customer base.

• Must sign a non-disclosure agreement
• Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program
• A pre-employment physical examination is required and a condition of employment
• Knowledge of key management systems at the Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 levels. Ability to analyze and resolve Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 hardware and software operational and configuration problems
• Knowledge of operations, policies, and procedures for the COMSEC Responsible Officer, Base COMSEC Manager, and Tier 1 Operator. This includes processing received COMSEC material, issuing and distributing COMSEC material, processing cryptographic key material, ordering key from the Central Office of Records, generating ALC 6/7 key, accounting for traditional key, encrypting and decrypting electronic key material, transferring and receiving key material from secure telephones, exchanging credentials with Tier 0 (NSA), and downloading key material from Tier 0. A minimum of six months of experience is required
• Knowledge of security practices for ensuring the safeguarding of classified information
• Skills required in working with customers include tact, patience, and oral communication. Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software operational problems telephonically, knowledge of applicable customer service standards, and ability to maintain productive working relationships
• This position is an Engineering and Technical Management Practitioner Level position and the incumbent must meet certification requirements in accordance with Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) program guidelines
• Information Assurance (IA) Certification is a condition of employment. This position includes IA work as a duty requirement. Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position
