Job summary

US Naval Sea Systems Command in Maryland seeks an IT Specialist with at least one year of specialized experience at the NT-4 (GS-11/12) level or equivalent in the Federal service or private sector. Strong hands-on Cisco security expertise with ASA, FTD, and ISE is required.

Applicants should demonstrate competencies in Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving to support mission-critical security operations within the Navy’s IT infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • To be eligible for the 2210 series, you must have IT-related experience demonstrating four core competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving.
  • Experience can be paid or unpaid, including volunteer work through National Service programs; it translates to paid employment.

Job description

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-4 pay band (GS-11/12 equivalency) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Expert-Level Knowledge of Cisco Security Portfolio: Strong, hands-on understanding of Cisco security products, especially Cisco ASA firewalls, Firepower Threat Defense (FTD), and Identity Services Engine (ISE).

To be eligible for the 2210 series, you must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:

  • Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
  • Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
  • Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  • Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
