  • Ensures accountability of all computers and related items.
  • Mentors students interested in IT careers.

IT Specialist

On-Call/Hourly/Non-Exempt/Temp Professional Batesville, MS, US

SUMMARY OF POSITION FUNCTION:

Provides hardware and software maintenance, training, and technical assistance for computer and communications systems.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides technical assistance and training on computer and communication systems and software applications, etc. to center staff.
  • Identifies communication systems, computer hardware, and software problems and monitors those problems until they are resolved. Assists staff with application problems and respond to and resolve end user technical problems.
  • Assist in the installation and maintenance of new computers, networks, software applications, and communication systems equipment.
  • Develops job aids, checklists, training and resource materials for tasks performed in software.
  • Keeps aninventory and library of approved software.
  • Insures technology is accessible and equipped with current hardware and software.
  • Works with Job Corps Data Center personnel and the Corporate IS Manager on matters relating to systemic problems, modifications, or improvements.
  • Ensures the accountability of all computers and related items.
  • Assists in mentoring students interested in information technology careers.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
  • Proven experience with diverse hardware and software
  • Ability to adapt, integrate and modify existing programs or vendor supplied package programs for use with existing information systems
  • Demonstrated skills working with communication systems and networks
  • Ability to work on multiple projects independently and with minimal supervision
  • Proven ability to communicate instructions and troubleshooting processes to internal customers
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field. A combination of education and experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Two years of experience in work-related field.
OTHER:
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
