Job summary

Evident is seeking an IT Master Data Management Leader to architect and accelerate enterprise-wide MDM, including data architecture, quality, and cross-system sharing.

You will lead governance, vendor management, and end-to-end SAP MDM efforts across ECC and S/4HANA, partnering with business and IT stakeholders to deliver measurable improvements.

This role reports to the Enterprise Technology and Innovation Team and offers strategic impact across the organization.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of IT project/program management experience, including 5+ years leading MDM initiatives.
• Deep expertise in SAP master data (material, customer, vendor, finance).
• Experience leading cross-functional programs and influencing executives.
• Strong knowledge of data governance and project management tools.

Responsibilities

IT Master Data Management (MDM) Leader

Job Description

At Evident, we deliver optical technology that pushes the limits of scientific discovery, helping researchers illuminate the unseen. We are creating a new position within the Enterprise Technology and Innovation Team to architect, accelerate, and enforce enterprise-wide master data management (MDM), including data architecture, data quality management, and seamless cross‑system data sharing.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Data Governance Council, driving executive alignment on data ownership, standards, and governance decisions.
• Prioritize enterprise MDM initiatives across IT, Supply Chain, Finance, Sales, and Operations based on business value, risk, and resources.
• Serve as the primary escalation point for project risks, ownership conflicts, and execution challenges.
• Lead end‑to‑end MDM initiatives, including SAP MDM implementations, data migration, cleansing, governance, and MDG deployments, with accountability for scope, budget, and timelines.
• Define business requirements for SAP master data (material, customer, vendor, finance) and ensure technical solutions align with business goals.
• Oversee data quality, governance, and migration activities across SAP ECC and S/4HANA while ensuring compliance with enterprise standards.
• Translate complex technical concepts into business value and build organizational alignment.
• Lead and mentor cross‑functional teams of business analysts, data stewards, SAP functional leads, and external partners.
• Foster a culture of accountability, urgency, and execution throughout UAT, cutover, and hyper‑care.
• Manage vendor performance and ensure deliverables meet quality, scope, and timeline expectations.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of IT project/program management experience, including 5+ years leading complex MDM initiatives in SAP ECC or S/4HANA environments.
• Proven success leading large‑scale, cross‑functional programs and influencing executive stakeholders.
• Deep expertise in SAP master data (material, customer, vendor, finance) with the ability to challenge technical teams and guide business decisions.
• Strong knowledge of data governance, prioritization frameworks, Agile and Waterfall methodologies, and tools such as Jira, Microsoft Project, or Smartsheet.

Preferred Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 7+ years of SAP and enterprise application management experience.
• Leadership experience within manufacturing or Order‑to‑Cash environments is strongly preferred.
