Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH is seeking a PhD-level researcher to conduct independent research, design experiments, analyze data, and present findings. You will supervise junior staff, train technicians, and contribute to grant proposals, with opportunities to collaborate with OSU and external funding agencies.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Biomedical Informatics, or related field.
  • 1+ years of experience with secondary data research (clinical/administrative/EHR data) and study design/data analysis.
  • Experience in academic medical center, health system, or clinical research environment preferred.
  • Peer-reviewed publications and grant proposal writing track record required.
  • Project management experience including planning, reporting, stakeholder engagement, and SOP development.
  • Must reside in or be willing to relocate to the Columbus, OH region.

Responsibilities

  • Designs experiments, develops protocols, and conducts independent research.
  • Develops project aims, objectives, and experimental techniques.
  • Supervises and mentors junior research staff and students.
  • Trains and supervises technical support staff in performing techniques essential to the research program.
  • Records and analyzes data generated by the research study.
  • Develops hypotheses for further investigation from the results of the studies performed.
  • Independently prepares scientific and technical papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Present findings at local and national research forums.
  • Writes first drafts of grant proposals and manuscripts.
  • May be CO-PI on grant applications.
  • Collaborates with other ongoing research efforts either at NCH or at The Ohio State University.
  • Prepares to submit proposals to and obtain funding from external granting agencies.
