Job description

Data Infrastructure Lead Full-Time, Senior Individual Contributor

About The Role

The IT Project Manager role in ACPWB's Data Infrastructure group is for someone who finds real satisfaction in making complex systems work well. You will take responsibility for internal tooling and developer productivity using Terraform and AWS on Microsoft Azure, and your work will have immediate, visible impact on the quality and efficiency of ACPWB's analytical operations. We have 9 people on this team. Every contribution matters.

ACPWB is hiring a IT Project Manager to support internal tooling and developer productivity within the Data Infrastructure team. The work involves Terraform and AWS development on Microsoft Azure, with an emphasis on building tools and systems that allow ACPWB's analysts to do better work faster. You will be embedded in a 9-person team that is technical without being insular and collaborative without being slow.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure reliability, performance, and security of internal tooling and developer productivity infrastructure on Microsoft Azure
  • Contribute to ACPWB's technical roadmap by identifying investment opportunities in internal tooling and developer productivity
  • Participate in sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives as part of the Data Infrastructure engineering cadence
  • Provide technical guidance and code review to junior engineers and associate developers
  • Design, build, and maintain components of the compensation survey processing system using Terraform and AWS
  • Lead or contribute to technical evaluation and procurement for new systems and infrastructure
Qualifications
Required
  • Strong proficiency in Terraform and AWS or an equivalent technical stack with demonstrated production experience
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure management including compute, storage, and networking on Microsoft Azure
  • Demonstrated curiosity about new tools and technologies with evidence of self-directed technical learning
  • Solid understanding of relational database design, SQL, and data modeling principles
Preferred
  • Familiarity with compliance requirements such as SOC 2, GDPR, or CCPA as they apply to data systems
  • Prior experience in a professional services or advisory firm technology environment
  • Familiarity with dbt, Great Expectations, or other data transformation and validation frameworks
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, Snowflake, or other enterprise relational or analytical databases
WHY ACPWB

If you have spent your career doing important work at organizations that did not fully recognize its importance, ACPWB is a corrective experience. We notice contribution. We reward it. We publish research arguing that everyone else should do the same, and we practice what we preach, which is not as common as it should be. ACPWB was founded in Milwaukee in 2006 with a simple mandate: help working Americans understand and advocate for the compensation they deserve. Eighteen years later, that mandate has grown into a full-service research and advisory practice serving clients from early-stage employers to Fortune 50 enterprises — and we are still based in Milwaukee, because Milwaukee is genuinely underrated.

INTERVIEW PROCESS

Our process is intentionally streamlined: one phone screen, one comprehensive interview, one reference check, one offer. We aim to complete the process within 14 to 21 days of initial contact. We have found that additional rounds do not improve our predictive accuracy and do consume your time, which we respect.

What Success Looks Like In Year One
  • Identify and resolve at least one performance, security, or reliability gap in the existing infrastructure
  • Pass any required security, compliance, or systems access certifications for the Data Infrastructure team
  • Develop a thorough working knowledge of the compensation survey processing system architecture, data flows, and dependencies
  • Ship at least two meaningful features or improvements to the compensation survey processing system with full documentation
  • Build a productive working relationship with at least two non-engineering stakeholders who depend on the compensation survey processing system
