Unknown Client in Laurel, MD is seeking an IT Project Manager to lead cross-functional PMO initiatives and deliver strategic IT projects in a hybrid onsite/remote setup.

The role requires 3–6+ years of project management experience in both Waterfall and Agile environments, with strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Contract-to-Hire, pay range $45–$60 per hour on a W2 basis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
• 3-6+ years of proven project management experience leading medium-to large-scale IT projects.
• Experience operating in both Agile and Waterfall environments.
• Financial services industry experience preferred.
• Experience interfacing with executive leadership and senior stakeholders.
• Strong governance, risk management, and stakeholder communication.
• Proficiency with MS Office and project management tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage multiple concurrent projects from initiation through implementation and closure.
• Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, milestones, risks, issues, and status reports.
• Coordinate activities across business units, IT teams, vendors, and executive stakeholders to ensure project success.
• Facilitate project meetings, steering committee sessions, and stakeholder communications effectively.
• Ensure project deliverables are completed on schedule and aligned with strategic business objectives.
• Drive accountability among project teams and stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes.
• Assist in transitioning projects between Waterfall and Agile delivery methodologies as appropriate.
• Maintain project documentation and reporting within Planview and other project management tools.

This individual will be responsible for leading cross-functional initiatives across multiple business areas, partnering with business stakeholders, technology teams, and senior leadership to successfully deliver strategic projects. The ideal candidate will have experience managing projects in both Waterfall and Agile environments and possess strong communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.

What's Needed?

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
• 3-6+ years of proven project management experience managing medium-to large-scale projects involving system conversions, platform migrations, enterprise architecture, infrastructure, and/or IT transformation initiatives.
• Experience operating in both Agile and Waterfall environments.
• Financial Services, Banking, Credit Union, or related Financial Institution experience strongly preferred.
• Experience working directly with executive leadership and senior stakeholders.
• Strong skills in project governance, risk management, and stakeholder communication.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and project management tools.

Preferred:

• Certifications: PMP and/or Agile Certification (CSM, PMI-ACP, SAFe, Scrum Master, or similar).
• Experience using Planview project and portfolio management (PPM) platform.
