Job summary

Heiden Technology Solutions seeks an IT Project Engineer to join the Saginaw team, in-person at our office. You will implement IT solutions, deploy end-user equipment and network tech, and collaborate with the Design Desk Technician and PM to meet client requirements.

The role emphasizes strong communication, project execution, and detailed documentation, with on-site work and occasional after-hours support as part of a dynamic MSP team.

Qualifications

  • Education and certifications in IT or networking are preferred.
  • Experience in designing, deploying and supporting business networks.
  • Ability to create network diagrams and documentation following processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide remote and onsite client services.
  • Complete projects on schedule and on budget.
  • Plan projects and prepare equipment delivery and configuration.
  • Execute maintenance windows for cutovers and post-project validation.
  • Provide afterhours support and on-call services as needed.
  • Document project status and technical details for handoffs.

Heiden Technology Solutions is seeking an IT Project Engineer to join our team in Saginaw, Michigan. This position works in-person from our Saginaw office and is not a remote position.

+ Project Engineer (PE) Overview

The IT Project Engineer (PE) role is integral to the success of both clients and the MSP. The PE is responsible for implementing IT solutions for clients using an industry standard project methodology. PEs deploy end user equipment and network technology at client sites and datacenters that are tailored to meet specific client business and technical requirements. PEs collaborate with team members to understand client requirements to engage in and complete projects designed by the Design Desk Technician and managed by the Project Manager (PM). PEs provide client facing services and are required to communicate effectively across all levels of a corporate structure. PEs are also required to provide expert level technical assistance as necessary to support client and MSP technical initiatives.

+ Essential Job Functions
Professional Services Project Engagements:
  • Provide remote and onsite client services
  • Complete projects on schedule and on budget
  • Adhere to established project processes including:
  • Successfully complete PE tasks in the project intake process
  • Project planning and preparation
  • Delivery of equipment for projects
  • Equipment setup and configuration
  • Execute timely maintenance windows for cutovers
  • Provide afterhours project services as necessary
  • Confirmation of technical alignment post project
  • Manage scope creep and additional project service requests
  • Completion of project technical documentation
  • Maintain project status documentation
  • Time entry and tracking in PSA application
  • Acquire vendor support as necessary
Solutions Design Validation:
  • Peer review proposals for solution validation
  • Provide solutions design assistance to the Design Desk Technician as necessary
Incident Support and On Call Service:
  • Engage in billable service incidents when assigned
  • Provide on-call services when scheduled and required
Onboarding Projects:
  • Active participation in the onboarding process
  • Provide detailed core network infrastructure documentation
Communication and Team Collaboration:
  • Adhere to established Project Team processes and workflows, ensuring seamless inter-departmental integration, responsiveness, and transparency
  • Champion company core values and actively contribute to enhancing organizational culture
Requirements
+ Education and Experience
  • Education and Certifications: A degree in information technology, technical school training, or equivalent practical experience. Networking certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, or relevant vendor certifications are preferred.
  • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrates expertise in relevant technologies with a commitment to ongoing technical skills development
  • Networking Experience: Demonstrated experience in designing, deploying, and supporting business networks, including switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points, and WAN connections
  • Documentation and Process: Ability to create accurate network diagrams, configuration records, implementation plan, and client handoff documentation while following Professional Services team processes
  • Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose connectivity, performance, wireless, and firewall issues using a structured troubleshooting process
  • Organizational Skills: Exhibits robust organizational and coordination abilities, ensuring efficient workflow and team synergy
  • Task Management: Proficient in prioritizing and managing project task details to meet deadlines and client expectations
  • Business Acumen and Communication: Possesses essential business insights along with strong verbal and written communication skills, crucial for effective client and team interactions
  • Proven Track Record: Demonstrates a history of achieving organizational goals while maintaining
  • high levels of operational success and client satisfaction

+ Working Conditions
  • Full-Time, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm, with occasional schedule flexibility.
  • Occasional OT (1.5x)
  • Lifting occasionally 50+ lbs.
  • In-Office; Saginaw, MI
  • Travel to client sites.
  • Use of software and networking tools.
  • Participation in an on-call rotation (every 2-3 weeks).
  • Ability to pass a background check and driver's record check.

PEs report to the Professional Services Manager.
