Job summary

GM Financial in Arlington, Texas seeks a Technical Program Manager to lead technology programs within the Tech Standards & Enterprise Reusable Services group. You will interact with executives, product and IT teams, shaping delivery strategies and roadmaps.

The role emphasizes agile leadership, stakeholder management, budgeting and risk management, with a flexible hybrid in-office schedule two days per week. A strong background in financial services and PMP/Scrum credentials are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Experience in managing technology projects or agile teams using a variety of supporting technologies and work-management tools.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills to collaborate with different levels of hierarchy.
  • Strong understanding of portfolio and program management, and agile team practices with strong soft skills.
  • Excellent project-management skills, including the ability to create and manage project/program plans, budgets, and resources effectively.
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills, with the ability to drive consensus and manage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to identify and understand technical dependencies between initiatives.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate up and down the stack – interacting with executives, technical teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Lead planning and structuring for tech delivery efforts to streamline capabilities and tools needed to support the department in delivering value.
  • Support assessment of project scope and effort to plan milestones, develop effective schedules and change-management plans, manage risks, remove impediments, and ensure proactive communication occurs regularly.
  • Build and develop effective relationships with different IT and product teams to find opportunities to increase business value while modernizing processes.
  • Think out of the box to deliver value quickly while managing costs.
  • Document and conduct presentations for technical, business and leadership audiences to promote department strategies and communicate progress.
  • Support the Technology Delivery & Transformation group in planning initiatives across goals, KRs, KPIs, etc. as it relates to organizational goals.
  • Assist with change-management activities for the team and beyond.
  • Champion the financials of assigned programs/projects, yearly budget, and ongoing financial planning.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for process enhancements and driving operational efficiency within the portfolio and department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or additional equivalent work or military experience preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
  • PMP certification preferred.
  • Scrum Master Certification preferred.
