Job summary

E Tech Group is seeking an IT/OT Controls Engineer to lead UNS projects connecting shop floor equipment to MES and ERP systems. You will model plant-floor data into ISA-95 structures and implement scalable, secure integration using MQTT, OPC UA, and REST protocols.

You will configure edge connectivity to PLCs and SCADA, using Python for automation and data transformation, while collaborating with IT/OT teams in a GMP-regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in a similar role.
• Strong understanding of Unified Namespace concepts and MQTT/SparkplugB.
• Experience with HighByte Intelligence Hub or similar DataOps/data modeling platforms.
• Experience with Ignition (gateway configuration, tag structures, scripting); Ignition certification a plus.
• Experience with SQL/Postgres.
• Proficiency in Python; familiarity with REST APIs, JSON, and web services.
• Familiarity with ISA-95 models and MES integration.
• Knowledge of GMP and validation in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement Unified Namespace (UNS) solutions using HiveMQ, HighByte Intelligence Hub, and Ignition.
• Model and contextualize plant-floor data into ISA-95 payloads for MES and historians.
• Integrate shop floor equipment with MES, ERP, and enterprise applications using MQTT, OPC UA, REST, and vendor protocols.
• Configure edge connectivity to PLCs, SCADA, and legacy systems; manage data flow into UNS.
• Use Python for automation, data transformation, and integration tasks.
• Collaborate with IT and OT teams and provide technical leadership from design to commissioning.
• Maintain project documentation in a GMP-regulated environment and report status to stakeholders.
