Job description

Clockwork is looking for an IT Operations Specialist to help keep our people connected, productive, and supported.

This is an entry-level role for someone who enjoys solving problems, helping people, and making technology easier to use. You’ll support the day-to-day operation of Clockwork’s IT environment—from troubleshooting employee issues and maintaining our office network to managing devices, software access, and employee onboarding and offboarding.

You’ll work closely with people across Clockwork, so clear communication and a service-oriented mindset are just as important as technical skills. You’ll also have opportunities to improve how we work by documenting processes, creating training materials, and finding simpler ways to deliver IT services.

This is a full-time position. Some weekly on-site time in the Minneapolis office is required, but flexible within your schedule.

What You’ll Do
  • Provide IT support: Be a go-to resource for employees experiencing technical issues. Triage requests, troubleshoot problems, and resolve support tickets while providing a great employee experience.
  • Support office networking: Help maintain our office network and troubleshoot connectivity issues for employees working in-office and remotely.
  • Support our core tools: Help administer and troubleshoot the software Clockwork relies on, including Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Slack, Microsoft Teams, and 1Password.
  • Manage employee onboarding and offboarding: Set up employees and contractors with the devices, accounts, permissions, and tools they need, whether they’re joining us in person or remotely. Manage access and equipment when people leave Clockwork.
  • Manage IT assets: Procure, configure, track, maintain, and retire laptops and other IT equipment using our mobile device management (MDM) platform.
  • Work with technology vendors: Help evaluate vendors, manage ongoing relationships, review performance, and support contract negotiations.
  • Improve IT processes: Look for opportunities to simplify, make them more reliable, and make them easier for employees to navigate.
  • Document and share knowledge: Create and maintain IT documentation, playbooks, training materials, and resources that help employees solve problems and use technology effectively.
  • Support security and privacy: Help maintain IT practices that align with Clockwork’s security and privacy policies.
What We’re Looking For

You don’t need to know everything on day one. We’re looking for someone with a solid technical foundation, curiosity, and a willingness to learn.

  • A basic understanding of IT operations and macOS.
  • Familiarity with collaboration and productivity tools such as Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Slack, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Familiarity with office networking equipment and basic network troubleshooting.
  • An understanding of IT asset management practices.
  • A basic understanding of IT security and privacy practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow through on requests.
  • The ability to explain technical concepts clearly to people with different levels of technical experience.
  • Strong written communication skills and an interest in creating clear documentation, playbooks, and training materials.
  • The ability to work effectively with both in-person and remote employees in a hybrid environment.
If You Were in This Role Last Week, You Might Have…
  • Helped a new employee set up their Mac using Mosyle and sign in to the tools they need.
  • Troubleshot an office network connectivity issue and helped minimize downtime.
  • Triaged and resolved 20 employee IT support tickets.
  • Updated inventory records for laptops and other IT equipment.
  • Trained employees on a new AI tool.
  • Helped a team member troubleshoot an issue with the Atlassian suite.
  • Led a virtual IT onboarding session for a new remote employee.
  • Documented a new IT process in the company's knowledge base.
  • Coordinated the return and processing of IT equipment from a departing employee.
Why This Role Matters

Technology should make it easier for people to do their jobs, not get in their way. As an IT Operations Specialist, you’ll have a direct impact on the day-to-day experience of everyone at Clockwork.

You’ll help make sure employees have reliable tools, responsive support, and clear resources when they need them, while building the skills and experience to grow your career in IT operations.
