Job summary

International Justice Mission (IJM) is seeking an IT Operations Intern to support the Global IT Operations team across multiple regions. The role offers hands‑on experience with Microsoft 365, Azure, and collaboration tools, and involves assisting with IT issues, scheduling activities, and coordinating cross‑departmental communication.

The position can be fully in‑person or hybrid (onsite Tuesdays & Thursdays) in the Washington, DC area, requiring 30–40 hours per week during EST business hours.

Qualifications

  • Prospective interns need to have completed at least two years of undergraduate study by the start of their internship in a relevant field.
  • At least one prior professional internship experience or significant leadership experience in extracurricular, campus, volunteer, or community-based organizations.
  • Ability to commit to a schedule consistent with the required time commitment listed above (20, 30, or 40 hours per week during standard business hours).
  • Familiarity with Windows and/or macOS operating systems.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft 365 applications and collaboration tools.
  • Exposure to troubleshooting hardware, software, or networking issues.
  • Experience using technology in academic, volunteer, customer service, or personal projects.
  • Interest in cloud technologies, identity management, and endpoint management solutions.
  • Basic knowledge of IT service management principles is a plus.

Responsibilities

The Need

For over 25 years, IJM has pioneered the work to protect vulnerable people from violence. 9 out of 9 times in the last decade, IJM's Justice System Strengthening Projects have reduced slavery and violence between 50 and 85% for very large populations of people in poverty. As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people from violence, we are seeking an IT Operations Intern to join the 2027 Spring Internship class.

The IT Operations Intern will support the Global IT Operations team which is responsible for managing and optimizing the organization’s IT infrastructure, systems, and services across multiple regions. The Global IT Operations team ensures seamless technology operations, supports mission-driven projects, and drives innovative solutions to enhance productivity and collaboration within the organization.

The Global IT Operations Intern will gain hands‑on experience in IT operations and support while working on technical projects that span global IT infrastructure and service management. The intern will be exposed to cutting‑edge technologies such as Microsoft 365, Azure, and Zoom/Teams conference rooms. Tasks may include:

  • Assist with troubleshooting and resolving IT issues, improving user experience and system performance;
  • Support scheduling and coordination of IT service activities;
  • Coordinate interdepartmental, global communication efforts; and
  • Participating in departmental and general IJM administrative support.

This position can be fully in‑person or hybrid (onsite Tuesdays & Thursdays) in the Washington, DC area. It reports to the Global Director, IT Services. The position requires 30-40 hours per week, primarily during the hours of 8:30am-5:30pm EST. As volunteers, interns and fellows receive a monthly stipend to help defray their expenses related to participating in the internship program. This volunteer stipend is not an hourly wage, nor wages paid for services provided by the intern or fellow.

Spring internship program dates are January 11 - April 9, 2027.
