Job summary

International Justice Mission seeks an IT Infrastructure Specialist, Cloud Platform to support and operate our Azure cloud platform. This hybrid role covers platform operations, automation, and governance, reporting to the Solutions Architect, IT Operations.

Candidates must have strong Azure experience and a track record of secure, scalable cloud solutions. The role involves coordinating with IT partners and ensuring compliance with organizational standards, with on-site presence in the DC area

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in infrastructure, cloud, or systems engineering.
  • 3+ years of hands-on Microsoft Azure experience in production environments.
  • Experience implementing or maintaining Infrastructure as Code (Bicep, ARM, or Terraform).
  • Scripting and automation using PowerShell and/or Azure CLI.
  • Solid understanding of Azure identity, networking, and security fundamentals.

Responsibilities

  • Own the operational health, availability, and performance of Azure environments across multiple subscriptions and workloads.
  • Monitor workloads using Azure Monitor and related tools to ensure timely alerting and response.
  • Automate deployment and maintenance using IaC and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Collaborate with security and compliance to meet requirements and governance.
  • Document runbooks and platform standards, and report operational metrics.

The Need

For over 25 years, IJM has pioneered the work to protect vulnerable people from violence. 9 out of 9 times in the last decade, IJM's Justice System Strengthening Projects have reduced slavery and violence between 50 and 85% for very large populations of people in poverty. As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people from violence, we are seeking an IT Infrastructure Specialist, Cloud Platform to support and operate our cloud platform.

This position is hybrid (onsite Tuesdays & Thursdays) if located in the Washington, DC area or remote for non-local candidates. It reports to the Solutions Architect, IT Operations and is only available for candidates with the right to work in the US.

Responsibilities:
Cloud Platform Operations
  • Own the operational health, availability, and performance of Azure environments across multiple subscriptions and workloads;
  • Manage and support Azure services across computer, networking, storage, identity, and platform services;
  • Monitor workloads using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights, ensuring actionable alerting and timely response;
  • Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and post-incident remediation activities;
  • Perform platform maintenance, upgrades, security remediation, and configuration changes;
  • Partner with security and compliance teams to ensure Azure environments meet organizational and regulatory requirements;
  • Support cost visibility and optimization efforts using Azure-native tools and reporting;
Platform Engineering & Automation
  • Implement and maintain Azure infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), with a strong preference for Bicep or equivalent tools;
  • Maintain standardized Azure deployments aligned to best practices for naming, tagging, diagnostics, and security baselines;
  • Support Azure governance capabilities including management groups, Azure Policy, role-based access control (RBAC), and subscription structure;
  • Automate operational tasks and workflows using PowerShell (7+), Azure CLI, and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions);
  • Collaborate with application and DevOps teams to support secure and scalable Azure solutions;
Networking & Partnership
  • Business Consultation: In partnership with IT Solutions Architect, engage with business and IT partners across all levels and roles to understand their needs and map onto the appropriate Azure services; and make recommendations to improve existing services;
  • IT Team Collaboration: Participation in IT team Huddles, All Hands, and other collaborative working sessions, to ensure alignment with the technology team and to foster communication, planning and coordination. Cross-train other IT Operations team members to serve as operational alternates. Act as an operational alternate for other IT Operations team members where needed;
Documentation, Reporting & Data Management
  • Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation, operational runbooks, and platform standards;
  • Performance Metrics & Reporting: Monitor and report on platform operational metrics monthly and quarterly to ensure platform and workload SLO's are being met;
  • Stable, secure, and observable Azure environments supporting business and mission needs;
  • Consistent, standardized platform configurations aligned to organizational and industry best practices;
  • Increased operational efficiency through automation and improved tooling;
  • Continuing improvements in platform design and operations to meet Microsoft's Azure Well-Architected Framework guidelines while aligning with business needs;
  • Effective incident response resulting in reduced recurrence and improved platform resilience; and
  • Participation in IJM's community of spiritual formation.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in infrastructure, cloud, or systems engineering roles;
  • 3+ years of hands-on Microsoft Azure experience in production environments;
  • Demonstrated experience supporting and operating cloud platforms in an enterprise environment;
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent experience will be considered;
  • Microsoft Azure certifications (Administrator, Solutions Architect, or similar) preferred;
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Azure IaaS and PaaS services;
  • Experience implementing or maintaining Infrastructure as Code (Bicep, ARM, or Terraform);
  • Scripting and automation using PowerShell and/or Azure CLI;
  • Solid understanding of Azure identity, networking, and security fundamentals;
  • Familiarity with Azure Policy, RBAC, and governance models;
  • Fluency with the Azure Well-Architected Framework; and
  • Mature orthodox Christian faith as defined by the Apostles' Creed.
