Job summary

Sargento in Plymouth, Wisconsin seeks an IT intern to assist with network documentation, maintenance and administration. You will learn enterprise networking concepts, assist with LAN/WAN/WLAN, SD-WAN and voice systems, while supporting project tasks under supervision.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update network documentation, diagrams and assets in NetBox.
  • Audit and validate equipment info, configurations and IP addressing.
  • Learn foundational networking concepts and troubleshooting practices.
  • Gain exposure to LAN/WAN/WLAN/SD-WAN and cloud networking environments.
  • Assist with Cisco UC and Teams Voice inventories and docs.
  • Support OT and facility systems documentation (cameras, access, paging).
  • Track deliverables for small projects and assist team members.
  • Research tech options and provide cost analyses for decisions.
  • Learn SAFe Agile terms and participate in agile ceremonies.

What You Do.
  • Maintain and update network documentation, spreadsheets, diagrams, inventory records, circuit information, IP address assignments, and asset data within NetBox and other documentation repositories. Ensuring network records remain accurate, organized, and up to date.
  • Assist with auditing network infrastructure documentation by validating equipment information, configurations, naming standards, rack locations, cable records, and IP addressing information against existing network environments.
  • Learn foundational networking concepts, troubleshooting methodologies, and documentation best practices. Develop analytical and problem-solving skills through participation in team discussions, shadowing support activities, and reviewing incident documentation.
  • Gain exposure to enterprise networking technologies including Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), Wireless LAN (WLAN), Software Defined WAN (SD-WAN), network monitoring platforms, and cloud networking environments.
  • Gain exposure to voice and collaboration technologies including Cisco Unified Communications and Microsoft Teams Voice environments. Assist with inventory tracking, documentation maintenance, and administrative record updates.
  • Assist with maintaining documentation for operational technology (OT) and facility-connected systems, including security cameras, access control systems, paging systems and wireless devices.
  • Support small project activities by tracking documentation deliverables, updating project records, coordinating information gathering, and assisting team members with administrative project tasks.
  • Assist in the research on technologies, contributing to providing analysis and a breakdown of advantages and disadvantages for each option, including recommendations with cost analysis. Develop the ability to explain technical ideas and concepts in a clear manner to both technical and non-technical team members. Learn and practice communication skills to participate in crucial conversations to resolve conflict or differences of opinion of a technical nature. Listen and participate as directed in the interaction with vendors/partners, offering questions to understand the vendor and their offerings. Develop technical analysis and provide explanations other technical resources using examples, diagrams, and presentations.
  • Understand and participate in team engagement, team building activities, and Sargento cultural activities. Practice good work/life balance.   • Engage in inter-team and cross-team discussions on technical issues and process development and assist in troubleshooting sessions.   • Learn and understand SAFeAgile methodology, terminology, roles, and responsibilities of the Agile TRAIN. Understand the value of agile; be able to explain stories and their relationship to features and initiatives from a story perspective. Recommend and construct stories and participate in discussions with supporting teams.
Your Education And Qualifications.
  • Pursuing a degree in computer science or other related field
  • Proficiency in MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and vehicle required. There is no mass/public transit system to/from corporate housing location to company locations
