The Manufacturing IT Engineer is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and optimizing the technology systems that enable manufacturing operations. This position serves as a critical link between Information Technology (IT), production, engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of manufacturing systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong database administration and development skills, experience supporting Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and a solid understanding of industrial automation environments. This role requires a hands-on, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where system uptime and production efficiency are critical.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Administer, support, and optimize Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
- Support Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and related supply chain applications.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing system issues impacting production operations.
- Coordinate software upgrades, patches, testing, and deployments.
- Partner with production and engineering teams to improve manufacturing processes through technology enhancements.
- Support system integrations between manufacturing and business applications
- Design, develop, and maintain SQL databases supporting manufacturing operations.
- Create and maintain reports, dashboards, and data integrations.
- Develop SQL queries, stored procedures, and data validation processes.
- Ensure data integrity between ERP, MES, WMS, and other business systems.
- Support production reporting, analytics, and operational performance initiatives.
- Troubleshoot database-related issues and optimize system performance.
- Support manufacturing servers, applications, and shop-floor workstations.
- Monitor system performance and proactively address issues to minimize downtime.
- Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning for manufacturing systems.
- Maintain documentation for manufacturing systems, interfaces, configurations, and support procedures.
- Provide on-call support as required for critical manufacturing operations.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to resolve technical issues and improve system functionality
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience supporting manufacturing technology environments.
- Experience supporting Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) such as Ignition, Plex, FactoryTalk, Siemens Opcenter, or Apriso.
- Experience supporting Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) such as HighJump, Manhattan, or SAP EWM.
- Strong SQL database administration and development experience, including SQL Server and/or MySQL.
- Experience integrating manufacturing and business systems, including ERP platforms.
- Understanding of PLCs and industrial automation concepts, including Allen-Bradley/Rockwell and Siemens platforms.
- Experience troubleshooting production-critical applications and manufacturing systems.
- Understanding of ISA-95 manufacturing architecture and manufacturing system design principles.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work onsite and collaborate effectively with production, engineering, quality, supply chain, and operational teams in a manufacturing environment.
- Fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese (spoken and written).
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience supporting ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Dynamics 365, or Infor.
- Experience working within battery manufacturing, industrial manufacturing, or highly automated production environments.
- Experience with manufacturing data analytics, reporting platforms, and dashboard development.
- Knowledge of industrial networking and manufacturing communication protocols.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices for manufacturing and operational technology (OT) environments.
- Relevant certifications in database administration, manufacturing systems, or industrial technology are preferred.
