Role Overview
The IT Manager is responsible for leading, securing, and evolving the company’s technology environment to support office operations, field teams, and long-term growth. This role blends hands-on technical leadership with strategic planning, vendor management, and cross-department collaboration. The ideal candidate understands both enterprise IT fundamentals and the unique demands of construction environments...job sites, mobile workforces, heavy software usage, and high uptime expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- IT Leadership & Strategy
- Works in tandem with the CTO to own the company’s IT roadmap, aligning technology with operational and business goals
- Evaluate and implement new tools that improve productivity, collaboration, and job-site efficiency
- Develop IT policies, standards, and best practices
- Infrastructure & Systems
- Manage on-prem and cloud infrastructure (Google Drive, Procore, AWS, servers, networking, backups)
- Ensure high availability and performance across offices and job sites
- Oversee endpoint management for laptops, tablets, phones, and job-site devices
- Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Lead cybersecurity strategy, including access controls, MFA, endpoint protection, and incident response
- Maintain data protection, backup, and disaster recovery plans
- Ensure compliance with applicable data security and privacy requirements
- Construction Technology Enablement
- Support and optimize construction-specific software (Procore, Autodesk, Bluebeam, BIM tools, ERP, estimating platforms)
- Enable mobile workflows for field teams (tablets, cloud file access, site connectivity)
- Partner with project teams to solve technology challenges in real-world job-site conditions
- Team & Vendor Management
- Lead and mentor internal IT staff and/or managed service providers
- Work in tandem with CTO to manage vendor relationships, contracts, and licensing
- Work in tandem with CTO to oversee IT budgets, forecasting, and cost optimization
- User Support & Experience
- Ensure responsive, professional IT support for office and field employees
- Drive improvements in system usability and employee experience
- Provide training and documentation for tools and best practices
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive IT experience
- Strong knowledge of networking, systems administration, cloud services, and cybersecurity
- Experience supporting a mobile and distributed workforce
- Proven ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Experience
- Current/previous experience in construction or field-based industries
- Familiarity with construction and design software platforms
- Experience managing hybrid cloud/on-prem environments
- Relevant certifications (Microsoft, AWS, Cisco, CompTIA, CISSP, etc.)
